Days of the Tour
    Day One

On Day 1, your hosts will pick you up from Launceston city or Launceston Airport and take you to check in at your accommodation before heading Junction Farm, the home of Australian Horse Adventures.   Enjoy morning tea at the Junction Farm Equestrian hub, overlooking the riding arena and sheep and cattle paddocks on the banks of the Meander River.

After morning tea, you will be introduced to Risby, Junction Farm’s Racewood Eventing Simulator.  This state-of-the-art learning tool is one of only three Racewood simulators in Australia, identical to those used around the world by professional equestrian athletes for learning and training. During your visit to Junction Farm, you will be given opportunities to use the simulator for practising your riding skills and improve your confidence on horseback.

The best part of the day will be meeting your horse and taking some time to get to know him or her.  Your hosts will show you how to use groundwork exercises to establish a positive rapport and clear communication between you and your equine partner.

Lunch will be served next to the arena while your horse is prepared for riding and after lunch you will enjoy your first ride on our beautiful 2500 acre working farm and equestrian park.  Junction Farm is perfect for riding, with a safe and sheltered arena, round yard, obstacle course and show jumps as well as fabulous trail riding over big grassy paddocks, along picturesque riverbanks, up steep hills with glorious views, and through shady forest paths and flat quiet farm roads.  There is something for everybody!

Celebrate the first day, with a beautiful sparking Tasmanian wine and some of the regions finest cheeses, before sharing with your hosts a gourmet BBQ dinner, that showcases the region,  including local grass-fed eye fillet, cooked to perfection with native pepper-berry sauce washed down with the  the areas best wines..... just dont forget to leave room for desert.

    Day Two

Day 2 of the Tassie Tiger trail is time to hit the trail. Today you will ride approximately 18 kilometres through Junction Farm and neighbouring Five Logs, finishing your trek at Tamar Valley Truffles. In true Australian Horse Adventures style, ride your horse to the door and then enjoy a private tour conducted just for you by the owner of the business. While you enjoy your tour, the horses will be carefully tended and set up for a comfortable overnight rest. You will be transferred to your accommodation by mini bus, where you will enjoy a cosy truffle-themed dinner "at home".

    Day Three

Wake up refreshed and inspired on Day 3, ready for another day of exploration on horseback.  Today you and your faithful horse will travel back to Junction Farm through beuatiful native bush. You will see and hear native birds and perhaps a wallaby, platypus or echindna in its natural habitat, as well as the magnificent wedge tailed eagles that have made Junction Farm their home.  Your hosts will delight in showing you the most special and interesting parts of the property, and telling you about the history of the land, its current use and plans for the future. By early afternoon you will be ready to dismount, but that doesn't mean the day is over! Narawuntapu National Park includes an 8 kilometre stretch of pristine white sand beach, and this is what makes today’s ride so very special.

The path to Narawantapu takes you along the Tasmanian Food Trail, so another highlight of today’s trip will be the food. Whether it is from a Deloraine Cafe, Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, Blueberry Barn Cafe or Ashgrove Dairy, it will be a delicious Tasmanian specialty. Your hour’s drive through rolling hills and rich farmland towards the North-West coast will give you an opportunity to admire the diversity of the Tasmainan landscape. Arriving at the national park, you’ll soon discover the absolutely prolific wildlife: wallabies escort you to the seaside, and dolphins frolic in the waves. Take it all in as you and your horse revel in the sand and the gentle waves.

    Day Five

On Day 5, indulge yourself with your favourite breakfast before taking time to pack your bags and check out. After a relaxed start, your hosts will collect you to travel to Junction Farm for a final ride along the river’s edge on your favourite horse.   Share your lunch with your horse (carrots and apples provided), purchase your souvenirs and pose for one last happy snap before it is time to travel to the airport or Launceston drop off point.

Barrossa Adventure

4 or 5 Day Horse Riding Holiday

Pewsey Vale, South Australia

This horse riding adventure puts you in the heart and soul of Australia’s most famous wine region, the Barossa Valley.

With exclusive access to private pastoral lands, forests and vineyards, see and feel the Barossa Valley from from the back of one of our naturally educated, barefoot and bitless Arabian horses.

Enjoy hours in the saddle as you weave your way between manicured vines , follow ancient creek beds and criss-cross the Barossa Range.

Travel forestry trails, famous stock routes and quiet country roads before popping out at a sumptuous winery or historic homestead for a breather.

Taste wines from vines that roots draw their sustenance from deep in the geology of the rolling hills that you ride through.

Your pleasure and serenity will be heightened by your bond with the horse beneath you. Relax and enjoy the journey and panoramic views as much as our horses do.

It’s “pinch me now” stuff. From our base at Corryton Park Homestead, you will ride through grape vines during vintage. After your ride, sit on the verandah of the mansion and sample a Cabernet Sauvignon produced from those very vines.

Navigate your way by the mottled and twisted eucalyptus, hundreds of years old, each telling their own story of time past. Hear stories of a much older Barossa, the Barossa Dreaming, when a Ngadjuri Elder shares local stories and reveals a cultural landscape thousands of years old. For First Australians, Country is more than a map. It’s a mesh of the physical, cultural and the spiritual. It weaves together the relationships between people, the environment, and culture - creating a sense of place and belonging.

Days of the Tour
    Day One

The hospitality begins with a minibus pickup from Launceston Airport or Launceston city at approximately 12.30pm. Drive straight to Junction Farm, home of Australian Horse Adventures and Junction Farm Equestrian Park, where you will meet your fellow guests and our beautiful horses.

Ease into the program with ground work exercises designed to familiarise you and your horse while you still have two feet on the ground. By mid afternoon you will be ready for a sumptuous afternoon tea and a ride on the Racewood Eventing Simulator.  This incredible machine will allow you to check your personal technique and gain riding confidence in comfort and safety.

When everyone is ready, put it all together with a horse back ride, first on the arena and then on a scenic tour of the Junction Farm homestead. By the end of this ride, you will feel right at home on our beautiful working farm, surrounded by horses, sheep, cattle and dogs. Help put the horses to bed, then relax and share drink and gourmet BBQ dinner with the Junction Farm family before we transfer you to your accommodation.

    Day Two

On Saturday morning, enjoy a self-serve breakfast at your leisure or visit one of the local cafes for a quick coffee before your transfer to Valmont Farms for a day of horsemanship lessons, and an introduction to new skills. Cattle handling, rope work (lasso) or Mountain Trail completion are possibilities. Specialising in horsemanship and horse biomechanics, Valmont Farms is the perfect setting to discover your horse training passion.

After a day of discovery, return to your accommodation in time to shower and relax before dinner at a local restaurant with your hosts.

    Day Three

On Sunday, it’s time to put your new skills to the test with a day on horseback assisting with the work on Junction Farm. Check out after breakfast and pack your luggage into the mini bus for later. At Junction Farm, mount up and head out with your trustworthy horse.  You might be going to muster or move cattle or check livestock , water and fence lines. Whatever you do, your path will be interesting, the scenery will be beautiful and your hosts will love explaining and sharing their life on the farm.

Lunch will be a delicious picnic carried in your saddle bags.  By afternoon you and your horse will be tired and happy. Thank your faithful friend with a hose bath and delicious feed, then it will be time to say goodbye.
